Transilvania Train is not just a simple journey, but rather a tourist program full of cultural and recreational activities; a unique adventure during which you’ll explore the most beautiful areas of Ardeal; a foray into Saxon tradition and traditional gastronomy; a broadening of your horizons; a relaxing on-land cruise that will help you find new passions and meet people interested in the same things as you are.
In other words, we’re inviting you to board the first private tourist train in Romania, which will carry you, for four days, through the symbolic cities of Transylvania and the idyllic villages in the Haferland region.
The Transilvania Train will depart from Brașov on August 31st, 2017, and will pass through Saschiz, Sighișoara, Mediaș, Alba Iulia, Sebeș, Sibiu and Făgăraș. Stopping in each city’s station, you can take guided tours of history-laden medieval fortresses, you can have lunch in nature or tour several fortified churches, including Saschiz – a historical monument dating back to the 13th century – or the church of Cloașterf – built in the 16th century over the spot of a Roman basilica.
The main strength of this project, unique to Romania, is its schedule. From the number of hours spent on the train, to tastings of wine or Saxon foods, and to numerous traditional workshops – everyting is planned, down to the smallest detail. Thus, is has never been easier to learn the basics of weaving or carpentry, to learn how to recondition wood, or find out how traditional Saxon roof shingles have withstood the pasage of centuries. In addition, you can take classes in photography, medieval architecture or horse-riding, and stroll over hills covered in centuries-old woods.
The conception and organization of the program also took into account music lovers. Thus, you can participate in exclusive and rare events, such as the concert of the Sibiu Philharmonic Orchestra, or the organ concert in the Sebeș Church, delighting your ears with exceptional interpretations of arias from Brahms and Wagner.
Therefore, we’re inviting you to sign up for a unique journey; and you can take the first step right here, by accessing www.transilvania-train.com.
